Your application will be reviewed within 48 hours of applying. Sometimes just moments after! You do not need to be a professional artist to apply. Many applications come in, and for the most part, preference is given to artists who apply sooner rather than later. Often, decisions come down to a first-come, first-serve basis, so don't wait long to apply! Accepting applications this way insures that these retreats remain a mix of professional artists, hobbyists, and those gifting themselves the creative time they have never had before. The main criteria for applying is that you want time to be creative, and that your time away will nourish your creative spirit.

If your application is accepted, a $500 deposit is due within 30 days. The remaining cost of your retreat is not due until January 2027. Payment instructions will be included in your confirmation email.

This art retreat program includes the items listed on the website page that lead you here. Please make sure you read through the entire retreat page. Travel to and from the retreat is not included in your cost.

You must arrange your own transportation to and from the retreat. Pick up at the Tweedbank Train Station (one mile from Abbotsford) on day one of the retreat can be arranged for no additional cost!

IMPORTANT! If you sign up and would like to cancel, there will only be a refund if your spot can be reserved by someone else. It is strongly recommended that you purchase travel insurance at this time. In the case where a retreat has to be cancelled due to travel restrictions (like during the pandemic), you will get a full retreat cost refund.

This is a creative retreat! For some people, that will mean they want quiet, peace, and reflection. Others will want to be social with the other artists. Both are fine! Other art retreats are scheduled, feel more like a travel group, and have a "theme".... that is not this retreat. These retreats are about stepping away from the responibilites of normal, everyday life, and rejuvinating your creative spirit! That looks different for everyone. It's important to remember to respect what each person wants out of their retreat. There are ZERO expectations for people to hang out, be social or not social, or even to leave their rooms! The most successful attendees go into these retreats thinking of them as solo retreats. Although often people spend time toghether, if you aren't comfortable spending time by yourself, these retreats aren't for you. You MUST be able to carry all of your own luggage, and transport yourself where you need to go during the retreat. The only thing expected of people attending is for you to have a week to be your creative, wonderful self! It is understood that this retreat is a way for artistic people to spend a week in a highly inspiration with other artists! By applying, you understand that although many of the participants may indeed end up touring the area together, you and others are under NO obligation to do anything at all!

You must bring a drop cloth if you plan on painting in your room. Any damage done to the property is your responsiblity.

Absolutely NO GLITTER can be brought on the retreat! - no matter how fun glitter is.
